The Song the Rain Sings
"The Song the Rain Sings" was written for the Liminal Space anthology. It depicts a tense family dinner, and the stress a young boy feels while being there.
Details
In writing the details of this short story, I focused a lot on the details of the scene, the smells and sounds of being in a house during a rainstorm, in order to show the stress the main character feels.

While this story is published, if given the opportunity, I would do some significant rewrites regarding some minor details of the scene. Because the whole story relies on experiencing personal details about the main character, several inconsistencies and phrasing issues exist where it pulls the reader out of the story.

What I learned most from this project and publication is not only the amount of work required to write and rewrite a story to make it fit for publications, but also how important it is to get multiple perspectives about a story. Because not everyone experiences things the same, and details are always remembered differently between people who have shared familiar memories. It's important to consider more voices than just those of the editorial variety, as new perspectives highlight places in stories which ought to change during the development/writing process.
